Cars that Drive Themselves, Go Beyond the Road, More

Regular cars are becoming more fun than ever. Standard road cars are now equipped with more technology than ever before, they’re quicker and easier to drive, and premium manufacturers are now being considered as a standard road car. For example, you’ll see young people driving around a Mercedes A-Class or an Audi A3 like it’s nothing. These manufacturers were once seen to be only available for certain people, rather than being available to everyone. It’s largely due to financing deals and how readily available they are for someone who has even the most decent credit score. Plus, no deposit finance deals seem to be catching people’s interest enough to suck them into a deal.
These have now become standard road cars. There are many articles talking about the pros and cons of them, and why people should be going for them. Instead, we want to talk to you about something else, because there are so many other interesting vehicles out there. We love how big the motoring world has become, and how easy it is for people to buy all sorts of vehicles. So, we’re going to talk about something other than your standard road car, so let’s see what you think!
A Car You Build Yourself
This is the first one that we wanted to talk about because we feel like it can have the most impact on someone’s life. This will no doubt be something you have thought about before if you’re a real petrol head. It’s hard to say that a car you’re going to build yourself is going to be a standard road car because it’s just not something you see on the road today.
The beauty of this is that you either have a new car to drive around at the end of it, or you have a car that you can price to make sure that you make your money back, and more. We think this project is the best if you can have a group of friends who are happy to work on it with you, or perhaps it could even be a father and son bonding time sort of thing. However, you’ll need to know where to get started, and that’s with picking the right vehicle to try and build.
Four-wheel drive vehicles are going to be the easiest because old school 4x4s like a Land Rover Discovery came with the most basic kit both inside and out. So, you won’t find yourself digging into your pocket to finance your personal rig. It helps if the chassis comes with some sort of build to it. Just having the skeleton of the car might be a bit too much of a build to start with.
Starting will usually involve stripping everything off of it and starting again. You can use parts from all sorts of motors to put into it, but you have to make sure that they all work together. For old school 4x4s there are most likely going to be build instructions and tutorials on the internet to follow. Old school Discoverys were renowned for being fixable on the road with the right tool and parts, just because it was so easy to do so.
So this shouldn’t be a terrible task that won’t get finished. You just need to be able to be dedicated and spend the time making sure you’re putting every part in the right place. If this is an idea that has caught your attention, make sure you start with a Google search to find out how you would go about starting this, and then go from there.
Off-Road Vehicles
Some folks love the idea of being able to go off-roading all of the time, but usually only end up doing it by going on an excursion or going out with friends. So, why not think about buying something that you can call your own so that you can go out whenever you want to go on it. If you live in a pretty rural area, this will most likely be all of the time.
The most common option that people go for is a quad bike. They’re expensive to buy brand new, but if you can find one second hand that requires a small repair or two, you’ll be able to get it for a cheap price. You just need to make sure that it’s going to be road legal, and that you have the right license. Taking them on the actual roads is something you’ll no doubt do from time to time, even if it just be to get it to the off-road location that you want to go to.
Make sure that you get the right equipment to ride it as well. People underestimate how easy it is to get thrown off one of these things and cause a serious injury. But, some find this all part of the fun. If a quad bike doesn’t tickle your fancy, then perhaps a side-by-sides will be the one for you. When you think about a side-by-side, you might also think about a sidecar, because UTV’s are now always called a side-by-side. However or whatever you want to call it, we know you can have so much fun with this.
A UTV is a buggy that you can really throw around an off-road track. It’s like being in a little cage full of speed, and hours of fun can be had doing this. Some people find it better than quad bikes because it’s more like driving a car, rather than driving a motorbike. Whichever one you chose, we know you’re going to have fun using them!
Self-Driving Cars
While this might not be your standard road car at the minute, it might not be too long in the future until it’s exactly what one becomes. A driverless car is pretty futuristic now; it’s the tech of the future that’s yet to be perfected, but manufacturers such as Tesla are leading the way.
Some cars have been built and are out being used in public, but we don’t think the world is ready for them yet. While there have been videos of these driverless cars saving lives due to detecting a potential incident before it happened, there are also videos of crumbled up cars that have made errors. This error then comes back to the manufacturer, so it’s easy to see why there haven’t been many models made with this technology yet.
However, we do predict that within the next 10 or 20 years, every single new road car will have some sort of self-driving technology on them. Gone will be the days of thinking cruise control is the closest you’re ever going to get with driverless technology. It also begs the question of what else cars will be able to do by this time. Some will say they might be flying in the air, but we think we’re a far cry away from that.
However, we do think that there will be technology that helps to keep our roads safer than they have ever been before. There are now so many cars and dangerous drivers on the road, that technology on cars might be the only way to reduce the number of incidents that are happening.
Supercars
Supercars are most definitely not the car of the future. Supercars are still a car that’s only reserved for the rich and famous, and nothing is going to change that. If anything, even the rich and famous aren’t going to be able to afford the supercars of the future.
They’re now far more expensive than they have ever been simply because there is such a race for them to be the best. They’re now filled with more power, and more technology than ever before, which is one of the reasons why only the mega-rich are going to be able to afford them.
All you have to do is look at some of the cars that were produced in the last few years to see how true that is. If you take a look at the Mclaren 570s, you’ll find a car that’s full of so much power and technology that it costs $200,000. And that’s one of the cheaper supercars on the road at the minute. But, we love to look at them, and we can’t help but wish we could have it when we see one fly passed on the road.
However, we do like the fact that so many standard road cars are now being produced that are more powerful than ever. It gives us the chance to be able to feel some sort of speed that we might not have been able to before.
