Weight in large part these days is coming from added/required safety equipment and consumer-desired options. That&#039;s why all the auto companies are looking into lighter weight, more exotic materials and hoping they can get them incorporated without raising prices. GM&#039;s president just announced today that their corporate goal is to reduce mass by 15%, which could result in an almost 10% fuel economy improvement.
