Advanced Technology Is Good, But You Still Should Do This

In life, we cannot control everything that happens, but we can do our best to prevent bad things from happening. When you are driving, you should be doing everything that you can to makes sure that you are driving as safely as possible. Many car accidents could have been prevented if the person behind the wheel was being more responsible, even with all of the advanced technology now available (which Clean Fleet Report encourages you to use). Here are a few things that you should be doing to ensure that you are driving safely:
Use Your Turn Signals
You should indicate every time you want to turn. It needs to be done in plenty of time so that the other road users can react, and you can safely turn, park or change lanes, but not so soon that you confuse anyone.
Use Your Mirrors
Your mirrors are there for a reason. Check them regularly so that you know what is going on all around you. They should be checked every time you set off from a stationary position, before you turn a corner, as well as when you are reversing. Being aware of what is going on around you will keep road users and pedestrians safe.
Do Not Use Your Phone
There is never any excuse for using your phone when you are driving. Your full attention needs to be on the road and what is going on around you. Taking your focus off it for any amount of time, no matter how short, could be lethal. If you need to answer your phone or reply to a message, make sure that you find somewhere safe to park and turn off your engine.
Keep a Safe Distance from Other Cars
When you are driving, you need to make sure that you leave a good amount of room between you and the car in front so that you can react in time if they brake suddenly.
Your stopping distance can change depending on how fast you are driving, the weather conditions, the road conditions and the condition of your tires and brakes. There needs to be a bigger gap between you and the car in front of you when the road and weather conditions are bad.
Check Your Tires
Your tires are an important safety feature on your car. They need to be inflated to the right level at all times. You should check the tire pressure regularly, and you can find out the correct tire pressure for your vehicle by looking at your car manual or on the inside of your car door.
When you check your tire pressure, you also need to check the depth of your tire tread. The minimum depth it can be is 1.6 millimeters, but if it gets anywhere close to that, you need to get your tires changed.
If you do end up in a car accident, it is important that you do everything correctly. Stop your car, switch off the engine, check for any injuries, call the emergency services if necessary, and collect the details from whoever else is involved. You may also have to call a car accident lawyer. Dealing with an accident correctly, is just as important as driving safely.
