Free Consumer Electric Vehicle Education Program
One of the biggest challenges for consumers considering owning an all-electric vehicle is their fear of what they don’t know. The media can write reviews, and dealers can walk prospective owners through the differences between a car, truck or SUV powered by electricity versus gasoline, but far more needs to be done.
General Motors has come up with a program that should go a long way to clearing-up those unknowns. EV Live is an education platform, accessible to all, where a real person will interact one-on-one with consumers. These EV specialists will discuss EV charging, driving range, cost of charging, maintenance expectations and all other aspects of owning an electric vehicle. While the specialist will discuss electric vehicles in general, they also can provide information on the electric vehicles offered by General Motors.
Hoss Hassani, General Motors vice president of EV Ecosystem said that: “Addressing common misconceptions about EVs will accelerate widespread EV adoption. We saw a need for accessible, credible and engaging sources of information to empower consumers to adopt EVs and appreciate their many benefits. With EV Live, we’re making it easier to learn about the EV experience. Whether you’re curious or skeptical, an experienced owner or brand new to EVs, the experts at EV Live are here to help.”
How It Works
- With any Internet-connected mobile devise or computer, log onto the website
- The EV specialist will answer questions in real time
- Tours can be set-up for specific vehicles and how to charge
- The technology is two-way audio, but only one-way video. This way the caller can see the EV specialist, but not the other way around. Therefore, consumers can make their call to EV Live dressed to the nines or not dressed at all
- EV specialists are available to connect:
- Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – midnight ET
- Friday, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. ET
- Saturday – Sunday, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. ET
Observations: General Motors EV Live
Clean Fleet Report says “Bravo!” to General Motors for taking this step to educate consumers. We will let Mr. Hassani, the General Motors vice president of EV Ecosystem, sum it up. “EV Live lets us meet people where they are and have a real conversation about electrification, we’re selling the EV experience, rather than specific EVs.”
It’s up and running now.
