First EV from Maserati
Clean Fleet Report recently interviewed the head of Maserati in the Americas about the company’s electrification plans, plans that are now coming to fruition with the reveal of the all-new 2023 GranTurismo Folgore EV. This move into electrification, Folgore is Italian for lightning, is a major step for Maserati as it continues its performance DNA, but without gasoline engines.
Here is what we know so far.
- New GranTurismo architecture is shared with the gasoline-powered Modena and Trofeo
- Incorporates Formula E technology
- Designed at Maserati headquarters in Modena, Italy, and built at the Maserati Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy
- All-electric driving range not announced
Power
- Three 300 kilowatt (kW) electric motors—one front and two rear
- 760 horsepower and 996 pound-feet of torque
- All-wheel drive
- All-wheel torque vectoring
- 0-60 mph in 2.7-seconds
- 200 mph top speed
Charging
- 92.5 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery
- 800 kW system (using 270 kW charger, add 62 miles of range in five minutes)
- Battery pre-conditioning
- DC Booster
- Regenerative braking with four levels set though steering wheel-mounted paddles to a peak of 400 kW
Driving Attributes
- Four driver-selectable driving modes
- Max Range: Used to achieve maximum all-electric driving range
- GT: Default mode for a balanced driving experience
- Sport: The best dynamic performance with boosted sound and torque vectoring
- Corsa: For the true sporty and extreme experience, typically for track use

Pricing and Availability
- Pricing will be announced in mid-2023
- Pre-order availability and instructions will be announced before the end of 2022 for the United States
- Dealers will have the GranTurismo Folgore EV in late 2023

The 2023 Maserati GranTurismo Folgore EV sounds like an exciting sports coupe. From what we know so far, it will be fast, quiet and luxurious, carrying the Italian heritage of performance and style.
