An Uncompromising Streetfighter
So often with electric motorcycles we’re asked to make some sort of a compromise. Funky aesthetics, economy components and, most commonly, limited range—it seems there is always an added cost to sustainable motorcycling.
Energica takes a different take on the electric motorcycle. With a focus on performance and a quintessentially Italian design—they want to build impressive motorcycles, not just impressive electric ones.
Track-Tested Performance
There’s an old adage in the racing world—“Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday.” While there may be some debate as to who said it first, one thing is true, the technology that wins on the track, is what every customer will be looking for.
Fresh off the inaugural season as the sole manufacturer for the MotoE spec series, Energica has brought lessons from the track into its new model lineup. The Ego+ brings riders even closer to the factory race bike with a blistering 159 pound-feet of torque and a new 21.5-kilowatt lithium-ion battery offering 62 percent more capacity.
A New Look
Now take the same battery and power plant from the Ego+, lose 30 pounds of bodywork—and you have the new streetfighter model, the Eva Ribelle. With the new battery configuration, a rider in the city can expect up to 250 miles between charges. Add in some highway riding and you’re still looking at a combined range of around 143 miles which, for example, is comparable to what you’d get out of the new Ducati Streetfighter V4.
In about the time it takes to eat lunch, you can fully recharge the battery using a Level 3 DC quick-charging system (five urban miles per minute charged). Even on a Level 2 system, you regain 41.5 miles for every hour you charge, probably plenty to get you back to the office.
Proven Handling
The suspension is tried and true in the streetfighter world, a Marzocchi 43-mm fork paired with a Bitubo rear mono shock, both having plenty of aftermarket performance options available.
Helping keep that performance on the road are Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires on 17-inch aluminum wheels. Brembo four-piston calipers with double floating 330-mm discs handle the front end while the 240-mm rear disc is slowed by a double-piston setup.
Better Riding Through Technology
Riders can also select their desired level of regenerative braking via the 4.3-inch thin-film-transistor (TFT) color display. This is also where you can find the four riding modes, traction control and connectivity options. It also comes equipped standard with the Octo Telematics Pro Share software allowing real-time monitoring of the performance of the motorcycle via an app. Charging status, location and route data can be transmitted to your smartphone along with intelligent alerts if charging is interrupted or unexpected movement is detected.
It comes standard with a three-year warranty on the vehicle and 31,000 miles of coverage on the battery.
